Rick Carlisle's job with Mavericks is safe

President Donnie Nelson just informed media members that there's "nothing coming out of the blue'' with regard to Rick Carlisle's job situation.

He remains the coach and that won't change.

The overwhelming sense of disappointment has clouded the whole locker room and organization. But Nelson and owner Mark Cuban realize this is not a coaching problem.

That means they will be going to work immediately on upgrading the roster.

"Those guys in there wish the season was starting tomorrow,'' Nelson said.
