Pre-Christmas blues

The Mavericks have virtually no energy in the first six minutes of the game. But the Blazers aren't exactly electric, either.

Portland is up 7-5 in the early going, but it's interesting that Dirk Nowitzki is 1-of-2 from the field and the rest of the Mavericks are 1-of-11.

Nowitzki's elbow doesn't seem to be bugging him that much, although he is constantly re-arranging the pad on it.

He tried to catch one pass with his right hand and it went out of bounds, but that could have been because it was an awkward pass.

At any rate, both teams are struggling right now.
