Bad luck following the Mavs at the buzzer

Published Feb. 6, 2010 at 2:47 a.m.

Doesn't it seem like every quarter ends with the Mavericks getting beaten for a bucket at the buzzer.

It happened again at the end of the first half tonight as Minnesota's Damien Wilkins caught a pass about halfway between midcourt and the top of the key on the left side, faked, then rose up for a 28-footer and watched it go through the net as the buzzer was sounding.

The 3-pointer pulled the Wolves within 61-57 at the break.

This is a game the Mavericks must win. It's the finale of a short home stand before they play the last two games before the All-Star Game on the road.

A loss here and you can forget about any positive karma going forward into the break.
